Dear Bessie,

I can't tell you how thrilled I was with your lovely leather scissor and letter opener desk set. It is so good looking and we have a desk which needs just such a set badly. Jim and I think that you were wonderful to send us such a nice gift and we can't thank you enough.

You were also wonderful to come up to the wedding in all that rain. It was so good to see you & I hope before long I'll be settled enough to have you over.
