Beautiful Princess;-
We certainly did have a good time, seeing you at home over the week-end. It does seem that Mama and I feel more homesick for our chee-ild this year than before. At any rate it was a delight to have you with us. And the shopping was so satisfactory in that you got what you wanted. The one fly in the ointment was the loss of your gloves. We have hunted all over the house. I visited both milliners, Sugenheimers, and the Front Page. They showed me various and sundry gloves - but none of them were yours. They'll probably turn up when we are looking for something else.
Mon. night I went to the Stamp Club and Tues. night the Epworth League. Last evening (Thurs.) we had a big Fellowship supper at the church. There were pretty close to 200 present. Zeiter made the speech. It was really remarkable. He certainly hit the nail on the head. Spoke on what a church owes its minister - and what a church has a right to expect from its members. He hit right from the shoulder. All our friends were happy - and after it was over nearly everybody seemed to want to be counted among our friends. H.J's face got redder and redder - and at the close of Zeiter's speech, he went out.
Today Mama and I have been writing names on Thanksgiving envelops. [sic]
We are all a-twitter over the war situation. History surely is being made fast. I told Mama the story of Random Harvest, from outline notes that I had made; and she says that it is just as if she had read the book herself.
Has Poe written any more invitations of Swinburne - or has Bessie written any more invitations of either? How goes it? Brownie is outside, sitting on the radiator of the car as if he owned it. Mama is getting supper; and I am writing this letter so as to get it into the mail that will be delivered in College tomorrow - in other words, the mail that leaves Naug. about 9 o'clock. Already we are counting the hours until we see you again. What time do you get off on Wed.?
Sweet dreams - oodles of kisses etc. etc.
Papa.
