Dear little Girl: Just a few lines - to let you know we are O.K. It is one beautiful day overhead - but no so hot underfoot. The snowfall was quite heavy - but stopped about 2 A.M. I am feeling much better - but can't do much. My eyes bother me like yours did. Brownie and Andrewsia are sitting on the table in the living room. They don't care for the snow. The sidewalks are dry but considerable snow about. LeRoy is very faithful with his shovel.

We are glad that you gave us all the data about your exams. I have it on the date-pad. We hope they will not be too hard. I have been washing the things like nap-naps - handkerchiefs etc. to-day. Will not venture out to-morrow. Would have - if it had not snowed. Mr. Bottorf wrot phoned that he is sick with a bad throat and won't be able to do the bulletins. Kathryn is still waiitng - and I imagine his resistance is low. Here is a joke

Jim says "Two can live as cheaply as one"
John says "Yes if one of them has lockjaw."

The old shoe-maker is sick - too - quite a few cases in Waterbury hospital - but they (the doctors) say that the peak has been reached.

It certainly is delightful the way the Australians have been peeling Mussolini off the map. And now Haile Selassie (bless his whiskers!) is back on the job - Lineal Descendant of Solomon the Wise, Conquering Lion of Judah, Negus Negusti (King of Kings) etc. A grand old-fashioned Semitic warrior like Joshua, Hammurabi, Jephthah, David, Judas Maccabaeus, Hannibal, Omar and Saladin! (You see your Pop still remembers some history). We are awaiting your home-coming with impatience.

According to my understanding of the schedule, you finish your last exam at 4:30 on Wed. Perhaps I can get the ancient chariot to make the trip. It would make matters more simple. We shall see!

Your adoring
