[The previous line was written in Pop's handwriting; the rest of the letter is in Mamma's handwriting]
I am sitting in the car outside of the Post Office in Waterbury - papa is taking a short nap while I am writing[.] It is 6 P.M. We have been busy all day - writing for Church letters etc. Then Papa had a hospital call to make at St Mary's and one at the Waterbury Hospital - and then we took the dishes over to Michael's - and exchanged them for darker shade and they are beautiful. The man picked them all out and they are O.K. Please excuse writing - I am writing sitting in the car under a street lamp.
Papa is very busy - seeing people - he has eleven people - already - that will join the church a week from Sunday. As I wrote - we had the S.S. social last night[.] It was the biggest success we have had - the place was filled with folks - all ages. - They had a varied program - also at various tables - played bingo chinese checkers etc. Then they had the Orchestra from the High School to play - and they danced.. [sic] It was a great success. Do you think that Sallie would like the autograph Book from Papa and me? Or is there something else she would rather have?
It is clear and cold here to-day. The rain last night took away a great deal of the ice. Is Sallie planning to come with you when you come home? I hope she is - for that time will be clear - and we can have a nice time all together. Won't I be glad when the snow and ice are over. We can plan so much more. My foot is better to-day - the rheumatic pain is gone. The toe is entirely healed now. We are going to get our supper and then go home - and get things ready for to-morrow. We are going to aim for $1150 - 10 dollars for each year that the church is old. - Papa goes around and sees the people next week. Please let me know if Sally can come - and we will have everything all ready for you both.
Will close now -
Lots of love from us all
Mamma
