Rev. Dr. William M. Nesbit
230 Portsea Street
New Haven, Conn.Dear little Girl:-
After Papa phoned to you to-night - he found that the meeting he has to go to - a week from this Saturday (March 11) will not be an all day meeting. Just from 4 P.M. That changes things. If possible - for you to arrange it - it would give us a better time for you to come home next Friday instead of this Friday. I will tell you why. This Friday - I am to be the speaker at a big gathering at the Salem Lutheran Church. (see enclosure)
That means that I would not be able to drive up with Papa to get you and probably I would not be able to get home to see you until about 11 P.M. Then, on this Saturday night, my Bible Class is to meet for their monthly meeting and also to plan what they are going to do for the Anniversary Drive. That means that most of Sat. would be out. (But I didn't care - if it could not be arranged for you to come the next Sat because a little time is better than no time). If you can come home Friday, March 20th I will be able (God willing) to drive up to Holyoke with Papa - then we can have our supper leisurely and have a nice evening - on Sat March 11th, Papa will take us to New Haven - and leave us at the movies - and go on to the meeting at Hamden Plains Church - Then you & I will have our supper and he will come for us - and drive us home.
Papa does not think this is clear - Papa says Translation: "After mature consideration, next week and Mch 10-12 seems much better than this week end March 3-5 because: (1.) our time will not be so tangled up (2.) Mamma will be able to drive to Holyoke and her Friday Evening will be free (3.) Mamma's Sat Evening will be free. (4..) My engagement at Hamden Church March 11th would enable us all to go to New Haven. for a regular jamboree (5.) Mamma will undoubtedly be feeling stronger and more ready to hit the high spots than she would this week end. Quad erat demonstrandum Pater elucidet."
Papa said it was so nice to hear you over the phone so glad to know you are O.K.
Good-night.
Mummie.
