Dear little Girl:-
Just a few lines - to tell you what a good time we had on Saturday. We arrived home about 11-30 - Had a sleep on the road - and were in good time for Sunday. Papa preached a fine sermon on "Hannah" - and it was very loud - could hear every word - Mrs. Benson gave the flowers for the altar - They were beautiful - poets' narcissus - and pink almond buds - from her garden. Edgar Wyatt and Mildred Weyle - sang their best duet - which went very well - Instead of our regular Sunday School Class - my class - went in with Mr. Johnson's and heard Mr. Bropley - the warden - who beat Mr. Raytkivich - by only 65 votes.
Dan phoned Papa last night and was so disappointed that the fellow he was going to take-out to South Hadley - was sick and couldn't go. He said he wanted to pay for his own entertainment. So it is best to let him do it. He seems delegated to go - and is glad and insistent on paying his way. You have probably heard from him by now - as he was going to write to you last night. He was not at "Stamp Club" to-night I imagine he is doing double work - so that he can take Sat. off. He was so pleased to stay over - until Sunday.
The "Air" certainly was excited tonight - over Hess's flight to Scotland. Commentators - said it was the most important thing that had happened since the war began. Wasn't it - "God-sent" that he did not crack up with his plane! It is said - he is the one man that Hitler - told everything to - the only "confidant" that Hitler had ever had. What he has been able to tell the British Government!!
Papa got a check for the Church for $100.00 from Mr. Kazanjian. - so - the expenses for the year have been met. Papa collected
$320$340.Will close now - and retire.
Lots and lots of love from the Bunch,
Mamma.
