A Letter written on Jun 2, 1941

Dear little Girl:-

Received your welcome letter this A.M. and we were certainly glad to hear. Seventy-five miles seems almost to California - when you cant [sic] go - and have to stay home and wonder how things are. It was so nice of you to write such a long letter. That is the trouble that the Duchess of Windsor had - except that evidently they did not discover hers as early in the game as they did yours. Isn't the XRay a wonderful thing! I think it would be best for you to keep the five dollars to pay the dentist bills - and "forget about it" as they told you to. I am glad we have as fine a dentist as Dr. Jackson to take it out - and then it will only be a memory. Before I forget it - Papa is very anxious - to have you send him - the amount of the book-bill - and also the amount that is due for interest. Won't you send it in your next letter - if you are able to. I think it was wonderful that Mrs. Cotton took you over - I hope that some day - I may be able to do something for Stelle. I am writing a letter to Stelle's mother thanking her - I will be able to obtain her full name in Who's Who.

Wasn't it lucky that the tooth behaved itself during Prom time.

There is one thing that you ought to do - They (the dentists) told me to take a saline laxative - to wash down the canal (alimentary) and in case you swallowed some of the pus - it sort of washes it out. Can you get a little bottle of Sal - Hepatica - and take 2 level teaspoonsfull in a large glass of water, preferably on going to bed. Maybe if you don't like Sal Hepatica you might get a small bottle of Eno. Will close now. Papa is waiting.

Bushels of love
Mamma.
