A Letter Written on Mar 10, 1941

My Own Sweetest Junior;-

Three epistles in one day! That is what I call thrilling. Both Friday letters arrived this morning - and Sunday's letter reached us in the afternoon.

We were glad to hear about Cyrano, Idiots, etc. Neither Mama nor I have ever seen Cyrano; so you must tell us all about it when we see you. I think that the world is rubbing its eyes and wondering how it ever was hypnotized into believing that nonsense about the munition makers. The pacifists insisted upon it so strongly - simply because they wanted to believe it - that they fooled themselves and pretty nearly everybody else. (Of course your pig-headed Pop never was convinced of it.)

With reference to that Soci blue book - don't be afraid to remark forcefully to the teacher that you knew the dope, but didn't have time to get it down on paper.

Now, concerning the Prom: I think that John Donovan is out of the question. He hasn't any money; and Bates is too far away (probably about 7 or 8 hrs.' drive). However Mama and I are wrinkling our brows and stirring our gray matter on the subject - and generally that brings results. Meanwhile isn't there some line of possibility through your Little Sister? I shall try some gentle feeling-out at Yale Divinity (Johnie wrote Mama and me a lovely letter, thanking the three of us for the delightful time he had). Omnia sunt exploranda.

We certainly had some snow on Saturday, which put Sunday on the fritz - and today everywhere was a mess of melting snow - you could almost swim in the streets. To-night everything froze up, and the driving was terrible. I have just gotten back from the Stamp Club, and I know.

Sweet dreams, Beautiful Princess!

Your adoring
Parents.

P.S. - N.B. - Very important: What is the date of Prom - and what is the schedule and program connected therewith? This info is vital to your ancestors.

Hastily -
