Boston, MassachusettsSunday,
Dear Bessie,
This is a fine time, I know to be writing & thanking you for a Christmas present! It was awfully sweet of you to send those chocolates, and I enjoyed them immensely. They arrived only a few days before I left for Iowa - I went home for two weeks at Christmas. I had a grand time as usual.
Isn't this weather simply awful - I'm so sick of snow, I could scream! Now, I suppose we'll have rain for the rest of the month.
We haven't been doing anything very exciting yet we manage to keep quite busy. We've seen very few places this year, and what we have seen hasn't proved too exciting. Next Friday we're going to see "She Stoops to Conquer," which I remember seeing in High School.
I do hope all your family are well. Have you got a snapshot of Barry you could spare? I'd love to see him - I'll bet he is cute. Does he have red hair?
Thanks again so much for the candy & please forgive my usual late acknowledgement [sic] -
love,
Sal.
