Dear Bessie,
I received your very pleasing letter yesterday and was very pleased to hear from you. I believe I owed you a letter but you will excuse me I hope as I have been very busy lately. You know this is our busy season but I can't see how I could refuse an invitation which was so neatly and nicely written. We'll have to leave the details untill [sic] later and I will see what we can do about a double date.
Was to a testimonial dinner last night and asked one of the fellows if he wanted to go with me. He is very leary about blind dates especially as he got stuck very very badly once.
Don't you think my English is terrible spelling worse, and penmanship rotten, Well I don't even try to pretend to be a student of English etc. but will take math or science and try to make up for my lackings in English.
If the picture you enclosed is the blind date for my friend I am sure he would come, I have not showed it to him as my mail is private but if any blonds about 5'4" weight about 125 to 30 and full of pep with blue snapping eyes are loose on the campus I am sure he'd come.
There is rather shocking news around this morning. Last night I had dinner as before mentioned and sat at the table with Louie Wenzel, John Porzheim [sic], and a few others. This morning I had a telephone call that John was killed and Louie and Luke are in the hospital very bad off. Seems that they hit a tree over near Wallingford. They are all active De Molays and very well liked around here. I don't know any further details at present but will probably hear more this afternoon.
I expect to go to Stamp Club tomorrow evening and will probably see your Daddy there. Your Mother was up here last week and spoke to the Women's Society about Palastine [sic] but I wasn't there.
After glancing thru your letter I thought you might drop me a line and let me know about dress etc. is the dance semi formal etc.
Betsy won't be stepping off quite yet but soon.
If you see Betty Barrows you might tell her about John Porzenheim as I believe they went to school together.
Well I have run out of facts and figures and can't seem to bring this letter to a gradual close so will wish you the best at luck and success in your studies and am waiting to hear from you.
Sincerely,
DanP.S. I can't guess who.
