Wednesday.Dear Bessie,
Thank you so much for the Sophomore Song Program. I'll bet you had a grand time at Junior Prom. It sounded swell. Our Junior Prom is on Friday but will be quite different. It isn't a closed dance. The whole school may attend. Ray Noble is playing and it is a 1:30 night. "Marty" is coming up for it and after the dance I am going to drive home with him - I'll probably fall asleep on his shoulder - (no remarks please!) We'll probably get home about three o'clock. Saturday he is going east.
Our spring vacation came at Easter time, so I had a grand time. "Marty" brought me a lovely corsage for Easter. The Monday after Easter, Mother had at our house a Bundles for Britain tea. They made about
1.2$125. It was quite successful.I forgot to tell you - Marty doesn't have a tux, so he will wear his uniform to Junior Prom! With me in my red dress, we'll probably hit everyone in the eye. I am hoping nothing will happen to prevent his coming. The boys are on 24 hours duty and I don't think he is supposed to be up here.
This afternoon, Norman Thomas spoke on Peace. The speech consisted of a lot of wishful thinking in my opinion.
What is the east's attitude toward the war?
Give Miss Ruis my love & tell her to write! I think she owes me a letter & so does Lisa - Write soon!!
Love,
Sal.If I don't flunk out of here, maybe you'll be seeing me some week-end next year!
