Dear Bessie,
I guess this pen will do better with a little more ink so here goes. I received your fine letter Saturday but was not sure about getting a date for Stelle so have not answered but it seems now as if it is going to be impossible for me to bring any other fellow with me. The only fellow I knew that might come won't go. I talked untill [sic] I was blue (& green) in the face but to no avail. I do hope that Stelle can find a date somewhere and she is welcome to ride with us with her escort.
Will wear my tux to dance even though I don't like the monkey suit. And I suppose white flannels are the proper thing for supper dance, will bring them along just in case but am wearing my regular dark Blue suit. I think it would be fun to stay over and will do so on one condition - that I will take care of everything and I mean everything. So don't write home to your Daddy for money for me as you know he has plenty of trouble without adding on any more.
I have told all the men that we quit at 11:30 Saturday so they must come in at 7:30 instead of 8 and this will give me a half an hour to straighten things up before dinner. I think that by doing this I ought to be able to get home, clean up and be ready to leave Waterbury for 1:30 to 2:30 and you can figure when I will arrive from this.
Don't go to too much trouble looking up sleeping accomodations [sic] as I can find a place easily should you have trouble locating one.
As for dinner Sunday I think the dorm is as good as any unless you prefer to go out. I realize that you may be rather tired of the food and may like to leave campus for dinner. This is up to you.
Honestly you are getting me very much interested in Stelle and I am looking forward to meeting her. I feel very guilty about not being able to bring up my freind [sic] but as I said before he is not very open to any blind proposition and maybe Stelle might not care for him and it would be very hard for all concerned to get along should that be the case. I had a blind date once and will never forget it. I swear that I'll never have another. But from your description I am almost willing to make a date with Stelle. Am really looking forward with great anticipation to meeting her.
I have a florist customer here in town (who has not paid his bill) so I shall bring you red roses to go with your dress. Business + Pleasure = Good business - I'll bet the math or Economics teachers never taught that, but it works.
Have been talking with your Daddy today and he can't think of anyone to come up with me so I'll just have to come alone. Says that he and Mother got home without any more troubles last night and send their regards.
Am looking forward to meeting you and Stelle Saturday afternoon and let's hope for good weather.
Regards,
Dan
