A Letter Written on May 31, 1905

My dear little Jennie:-

I only just learned of your great sorrow, and of the reason why we have not seen you for several days, but I am going to send this now, just to let you know of my sympathy.

I'm afraid I can't say anything a bit comfortting; I never had a grandmother, and always wished for one but I can think a little of what your sorrow must be from one near to me.

Dear Jennie, it is such comfort to us, that someone understands.

Yours very lovingly,
Clara B. Hawks.
