Friday Morning June 18th -75Dear Lizzie.
I must write this morning for I know you will be expecting your box to day and I shall not send it until to morrow morning. I did not think when I told you that I would send it Thursday that there would be no chance the railroad carrying only passengers to celebration so as your father wanted to do something else I left your working thinking I could finish it easy yesterday. Ruth, Sarah & Fannie came to spend the day and as they did not help me any, getting dinner and supper for them made so much extra work that I did not get your work quite done - and you know your father would not let me sit up last night to do it as I could if he had allowed he thought you could wait another day and as I suppose it takes two days to go I do not see as you will get it until Monday. Mrs. Wales I think will send Jennie's linen polonaise.
Ruth feels quite hurt to think you don't write to her. Says she will never write to you again until you do Said she would'nt give a cent for a letter that you took so much pains with that it looked like copper plate &c. Sarah says if you dont answer any of the girls that have written to you you will be ashamed to see them when you come home.
As to the flowers for examination I don't know. if there are any we can send some. if not you will have to buy them. The girls said the white rose bush would perhaps be in blossom about that time. Have you money enough to get what you want and to pay your ticket home?
In haste
Mother
