The Department of Comparative Physiology in
The Harvard Medical School

1913My dear Miss Turner:
Please go over the paper carefully. Fig. 1 - not sent you - reproduces the "hypothesis" figure in my paper vol xvii of the English Journal of Physiology. Please insert the missing data as to number of rabbits and cats. Please return everything by express to me at the Medical School as soon as possible. I am leaving for Europe May 19 and wish to see the page proof before sailing.
The latter part of your experiments you will observe had to left for additional experiments as the results were not decisive.
It is possible that the Committee would give you a PhD if you would present a thesis on the various relations of the phrenic and bulbar respiratory cells, using them as a type. In that case you could of course count all this work towards the degree. If you care to have me, I will see what can be done after my return in September.
With kindest regards
Yours faithfully
