Lady dear,

It was a joy to see you & know that your kind still is extant. I am so tired of bitterness & striving, & do what I can, catch myself rolling up sleeves for a brick [?] or two. So far my sense of humor keeps me within bounds.

A button was found in the choir Dr. McCowns [?] sat in last Sat. night! We haven't returned it yet. I hope you are recovered from your trip home, & that it [sic] holiday gave you a little refreshment.

God bless you.

Esther
