Miss Abbie H. Turner,
9 Auburn St.,
Brookline, Mass.

Dear Miss Turner:

I am sending a hasty inquiry instead of a long letter which will come after the teaching year is over. I have been asked to represent the Johns Hopkins University at the Semi-Centennial of Wellesley College the latter part of May. As I had no academic gown with which to be adequately clothed in the Procession, I wrote to Cottrell and Leonard, of Albany, and ordered one. I find they have sent me a Mt. Holyoke hood as well as an M. D. hood. The latter completely covers the former when I have this outfit on, and I am wondering what is the good of the Holyoke hood. The colors fight terribly, but of course they are behind me. What is the customary procedure in such cases? If the B. A. hood is purely optional with the holder of two degrees, I think I shall get rid of it.

Shall away an answer from you before deciding this very important matter.

Faithfully yours,

Esther L. Richards
