A Letter written on May 10, 1919

The Johns Hopkins Hospital

May 10, 1919.

Dear Miss Turner,

I arrived safely at 5.30 yesterday. Met Miss Galt in the Holyoke station & had a brief chat. She was taking the N.Y. train also, but we parted when it came, as she took a Pullman. How old she looks. Talked as brightly as ever.

My expenses were $27.50.

I was shocked to find Ruby Burritt back here. She came Wed. night. Her foot is acting up again, & she looks all worn out. Dr. Baer thinks the anterior arch is spreading & putting external pressure on the artery. Foot is bad in color & has the old grinding pain that knocks her out. I'm mighty sorry. Dr. Bennet who has done so much for her is away for 3 mos. now. I wish he were here. Altho' he is Baer's subordinate I feel he is more patient with details & stronger on mechanics.

Lloyd Giorge sends his love. He is getting so many compliments now that his head is inflated. People stop him on the street & comment on his tail & head held heavenward. Pays no attention to them but trots right along. Doesn't make friends with strangers, nor yet is he unfriendly. Just aristocratic & something of a snob.

I certainly did enjoy seeing you, & only wish I might have stayed a few days longer for a real visit.

With much love,
Esther
