The Johns Hopkins Hospital June 2, 1919.
Lady dear,
I am slipping in a note with the sheets. Wonder how you are fixed now as to companion for mother. I do hope you haven't been sandwiching it with your own work. I wish you could have been with Miss Meagher and me over this week end. We motored up to Blue Ridge Summit Md. & spent 3 days on top of a real mountain. A friend offered us the use of her cottage & her caretaker cooked & waited on us. The trip was 65 miles from Bal. over a good road. As long as I am lugged up mountains I shall never go afoot. Lloyd George behaved in royal fashion. He has learned to sit on the car seat & gaze loftily at the poor, downtrodden passing by us as we whirl thro' space. One has to be born to the trick. I was not.
Much love to you,
Esther
