A Letter from Carrie to Gertrude, Oct 4 1884

Sat. Morn.
Oct 4 '84.

My dear Gertrude

I have just received your postal and letter and hasten to reply to the postal. I am sorry that Blanchs birthday is past, but it was Sept. 4th. She said she had some early birthday letters, I did not remember when it came so could not write her one.

I am so sorry that I had not thought to send the copy of sermons ere this but will at once.

If I had not loved you so much I should not have written you that letter, for I should have passed it by not caring, but I thought I took the best way. I guess I was rather exasperating, but truly I did not mean to be! I just did not want to have the lest grain of distrust in my heart. I think any one would have done the same thing. If you should read my letter again I think you will see. There was lots of love in it. Do not say I am sarcastic, I am so sorry for that and grieved this morning. I am a true friend to you and always will be.

Lovingly
Carrie
