I have come to the conclusion that it is about time to answer your letter but I am troubled somewhat as the boy was, I have nothing to say and dont [sic] know how to say it.
Things here go off in about the same old style marriages births and "about to be's" as numerous as ever.
There has been a great revival of religion in Farmington and Bowker not wishing to be out done is very anxious there should be some interest here, as yet he has not succeeded very well. I don't know what may be.
Silas has twice favored us with some very eloquent remarks, and was so good as to pray for the Church and for the evil they had done him.
Prof Harris preached here last Sunday, and a Mr Mc Kensie from Augusta has delivered lectures during the week.
There was a great fire at Manchester last night all of Mr Sampsons Oil cloth Factories were burned we saw the fire from here very plainly, and about fifty men and boys went down.
Flora went to the Hill last Saturday. Dr Hubbard called to see her before she went away, he said she ought not to go but that if she took good care of herself nothing serious would happen, her father concluded to let her run the risk.
Eleanor is geting [sic] a long [sic] nicely she has been down here two or three times during the last few weeks.
Stubbie has at last closed his school I think it high time he did for he has said enough about Mr Hutchins for one while.
I went into the Academy the other day to get a book, and I never saw such a looking hole, the Chemicals were all over the floor, the poor old skeleton just about crushed to atoms, the curtains in the funnel, and the rest of the things to correspond.
Wasent [sic] this a gay scene in Towle Academy
It is probable that Mr Doane and Carrie will leave town next Tuesday.
Nellie Woodward is not any better, Mary has got a nice little school consisting of about thirty two or three scholars, she was up here yeasterday [sic] says your folks are all well but John and he has a cold.
I wish I had some news for you but I have not.
Luetta sends love to you and Hattie. I received Hattie's letter last night, I am sorry to hear that you are sick, hope you will be better soon.
