Dear Mama, -

The pears came all right and I was glad enough to see that old basket on the stairs when I came home from school. Tuesday night. They are fine. The Worcesters were over here Friday evening I gave them some. Mr. Worcester devoured one of those great big ones.

Mr. Worcester is after me again to go into the Co-operative bank. They have paid between five and six per cent during this last year. The cashier of one of the Savings Banks here in the city is in it for as much as he can be, and some other members of his family too. As there is one here in the city he very likely is in that too. If they are giving better interest it seems as though I'd like to get it. Mr. Beals is in the Middleboro one isn't he? You have said it might be better to put my money this year somewhere besides in the Middleboro bank. I dont [sic] think the Lawyer knew much about it. It's for people who have miles to save and not for those who have enough to invest.

I'll put in this check for $28.50. $26 of it you lent me, $1.75 goes to Auntie for the brilliantine waist, the other seventy-five I allowed for 15 yds of the bobinet lace. I dont [sic] know what she was going to charge me for it. Did you settle it up with her?

Have you decided to have the hot water pipes put up in the bath-room? Have you asked Martin what he could do about a heater to heat it there in the bath-room? I shall want to come home and see it after it is all done.

Last Wednesday Abbie and I and two other people went up the Gorge and from there climbed straight up the mountain. Twas an hour's good climb. We got to the top at just six. We came down the other side, went out on Titan's Pier and ate our supper in the moonlight - it was a gorgeous night. Next Wednesday Miss Smith and Abbie are going to meet me in Holyoke and we are going up Mt. Tom to celebrate my birthday. Its [sic] very warm to-day. I think we are having a warm fall.

Lila's aunt and cousin were here yesterday for a few hours. They were very pleasant indeed. Tell Mamie she can have my B & A. mileage as I told her when she wants to come.

Yours Nellie -
