Dear Miss Turner:

One day more I shall be in Japan So far I enjoyed the voyage because I was not seasick. The sea is calm on a whole altho the first two days were quite rough and many were indisposed. Every morning I got up and said to myself that it was wonderful to be on the ocean and how healthy I am, I ought not and will not be seasick. It does help when I take this attitude every day. Do you think I am a good pupil of Carré?

There are very few first class passengers and about 50 second class passengers. Most of them are Chinese students. You can imagine what a grand time we all have. We played games every minute. I have been playing deck tennis, bull board and shovelboard. I played fairly well.

I want to tell you how much I appreciated your trying to get me to Gingling. May be it is due to your effort that I will be asked to go. I was told by this Jinling alumna who is in New York city, that Jingling [sic] wants me. I said that it is pretty hard for me to change now as I have promised to go to Peking. However she said that Jinling will send me a standing invitation. As I go home much earlier than I planned, I shall see condition in China and decide again where I should work.

Last time I visited Mt. Holyoke, I saw President Woolley and I saw her again in New York on June 6th. She said, I must come back for five year reunion and I said I will plan to. Perhaps I can have a furlough in coming to America to study after three or four years' teaching. But I certainly hope you will come to China before this. We shall give you the warmest welcome.

If you have time, I shall be very glad to hear from you and please address me in care of Dr. Mei Iung Ting.

With much love
Soo Yuin Ting
