Forest Beach,
New Buffalo, Michigan. My dear Miss Turner:-
I have thought of you many many times. After my graduation I was so tired that I did not have the ambition to start my internship right away. So I came to this camp as a camp physician. I am not busy but there are [sic] plenty for me to do. I give two health talks every week. They take time to prepare. I also take this vacation to write to all my neglected friends.
I am enjoyng my work here. I am not learning much. The cases we have here at camp are easy to take care. I am learning to handle girls. We have about one hundred twenty girls every week. I have met hundreds of girls during my summer. Most of the girls are sick with menstruation and constipation. I have had good success with them. I believe in physiological treatments. They can be cured by diet and certain form of exercise. I have read quite a little for my health talks. I shall begin my intern services October the first. I shall stay at Detroit for six months. This hospital is called Detroit Hospital for Women and it is one hundred twenty beds. I am convinced that a small hospital is better for my first year. Our university hospital is of four hundred beds and the interns do not get much to do. There are so many young assistants and they are the ones who get something to do.
I met Alice Farnsworth at Lake Geneva two weeks ago. She was so surprised to see me. I asked her to bring you a great deal of my love. When chance offers I am coming to my dear college and pay you a visit. Four years have passed so quickly. I expect to study at Harvard or Columbia this coming spring.
Remember me to Mrs Turner and much love for yourself.
Yours,
Me-iung Ting.My address after Sept 25.
