Prov. Tues. eve, Jan. 11. '76.My Dear Daughter,
Lest I should not be smart enough to write in the morning I will add my postscript to night, it is 1/2 past nine and the postscript must be short, for I am very tired.
Father's cold is better. he has not been out since
FridaySat., will probably go out tomorrow, if it is not too cold, we are having another cold wave. George is much stronger & better, he is expecting a letter from you, was sure he should have one last week. - Father wishes to know when the Dedication will be.Tomorrow will be Jennie's 20th birthday. She is here now.
We intend to start a box to you Thursday, hope you will get it before Sunday. We should not send another box so soon: but I thought you needed a clean calico dress by this time, and thought one of your old ones would do to wash dishes & wash stairs, Do you wish a new one? Ask Mary & Lizzie to help you unpack, if you wish to, there some trifles for them in it.
We had a fine game of "Spells" last eve, we wished you and the girls were here. Father & Mother enjoy it as much as the young people. From the word, "Consideration," nearly 300 words were made. Allie beat by a large number. George has beat a number of times.
Wed. morn. Recreation day. I wish you could have this letter today, fear you will be disappointed if you dont get one, we thought you would hear from us by Carrie's letter to Lizzie. - Did Miss Hooker get the paper? Are many of the scholars sick? Have you had a cold, do take good care of your health. Do you need a knit Jacket, to wear under your Coat? Is there anything you need? Lizzie wished Aunt Sarah to send us a list of her Christmas presents I send it to you. Our colds are better.
Hope you got the journal yesterday - Our love to Mary & Lizzie, How is Mary's head? Thank Minnie for the turtle.
Mother.
Miss S. Cood is better, but still very sick so is Horatio - Mr. Claflin has been sick 2 weeks with inflamatory [sic] rheumatism. Cousin A. called there yesterday.
