A Letter written on Jun 25, 1918

Dr. Mary Sherwood,
Dr. Lilian Welsh,
        The Arundel, N. Charles St.

Baltimore, Md. June 25, 1918.

Dear Miss Turner,

Thank you very much for your trouble about the books, and for all the other trouble you have taken for me. Dr. Sherwood and I are planning to arrive in S. Hadley either Tuesday July 2d or Wednesday morning July 3d. It is n't easy to close up the house, dispose of one's patients, settle the odds and ends of a college year's ending and prepare for me coming, attend to business affairs on July 1st - one of our days of reckoning here - and get away in July 2d for ten weeks. I have no time tables and do not know whether it is possible to get to S. Hadley Tuesday leaving here in the early morning. I think we shall have to spend the night in Springfield.

I have a letter from Miss Bruyn somewhat agitated because we shall not be present at the opening of the school, but Dr. Mann understood that perfectly, and planned to take the first week herself to teach the technique of physical examination. I have just referred to a letter in which she asks us to be at Mt. Holyoke between July 3d and Aug. 14th.

We are looking forward with pleasure to living in the "Faculty House" and to the enjoyment of the Mt. Holyoke "atmosphere" - To the school! Well, I trust we may be of some use, but I doubt it - However, we shall be there to help in any way our knowledge and experience may be useful. I notice your program is arranged for work five days in the week. Then I understand Miss Jervis has an hour every day - However, there is no use writing about our share - we'll find out when we get there and Hygiene is a very elastic subject. I'm coming to learn myself. There

I want to thank you again for all your trouble. It will be very pleasant and profitable to be near you for six weeks. How can I appropriately express my gratitude to the "faculty ladies" who will let us have their rooms, bed linen and travels. We'll be nice and careful.

Sincerely yours,
Lilian Welsh.

I shall be sending some packages along by parcels post or express or both in your care, "Mary Lyon Hall" as you suggested

L.W.
