South Hadley 30th 1877.

My dear friend

I received your letter last night I have no doubt you thought strange my not answering but I kept waiting to see if I was going to get my pay in the button shop but I have not got it yet and dont know as I ever shall, but I would like to have you come up tuesday and stay over the fourth I cannot get out of the shop only fourth of July day I cannot stop to write any more this morning as I have got to go to work if you come with your team come around I suppose you know the way if you come on the cars come to Holyoke and have the stage bring you to the house but it will be a great deal pleasanter to come with your team for the stage dont come up untill [sic] half past eight in the evening, but do as you please
