[Some paragraph marks added for ease of reading.]

Troy June 23rd 1850

Dear Cousin

It is sabbath morn and very unpleasant, so much so that I am not going to church and I thought I could not spend a few moments better than in writing to you[.] I have not got your letter here with me, it is in Albany, if I had I could answer your questions that are in it, and am very sorry I have not got it here but I have waited so long that I think it my duty to do so[.]

When we last wrote you we had no thought of going to Albany to spent [sic] the summer or of my coming to Troy to attend school[.] Father Mother Susan and little Albert are in Albany they are only six miles from Troy I can go there for twelve and a half cents and that's not much to spent [sic] to go and see father and Mother, brother and sister[.] They intend to spent [sic] the summer there if they are well it makes it pleasant for me as well as them.

I have one of the best fathers in the world he will let me board in Troy and go to a good school and let me take lessons on the piano all summer or as long as I make eny [sic] improvement and yet I am homesick and cant [sic] help it[.]

I hope you will excuse all mistakes from your unworthy
Friend Sarah
