Wednesday PMDearest Carrie,
Cornelia has been waiting for me to write, but I have nothing to day that will be interesting[.] No news save that Mary Barret was married last tuesday evening a week ago, had about thirty all cousins except Alfred and Celia[.] The next day, Husband & I were invited there to dinner. Mr Newel appeared very happy Mary looked & appeared just as she always does. Mr N. had no relative there except a sister Mrs P[...] from Cleavland [sic] she was acquainted with Mrs Albert Clark and family we had quite an agreeable chat. Mr & Mrs N. left with Mrs P. for Cleavland on the four oclock team Wednesday the next day after they were married where they were intending to stay until friday [sic] morning then go to Ravenna where he will have charge of the union school. The school is supplyed [sic] with teachers so Mary will have nothing to do -
I have just heard that Stanton & King have bought Charles Whelpley's farm Mr W. takes Kings house & lot to ocupy [sic] himself I suppose. James Smith has sold his farm to a
many by theAdams from the east - Alma [?] Badger who used to live in K is about negociating [sic] a trade with Henry Kerseeter [?] I really hope it will go & he will go out of town - Your uncle & Lucius Webster went to Jefferson yesterday deligates [sic] to a free Soil convention the procedings [sic] of which will not interest you particularly except that Marshall Wright was nominated for Sheriff - O. yes & Mrs - Garlic [?] is maryed [sic] to a Mr Caster of Jefferson and for the bridal tour have gone to the words fare I hope she will have some peace of her life the rest of her days.Lucius says he shall go to Wanekuna this fall with fruit. If so you will have some. He is going more to see the country than for any thing else. Says there is sutch [sic] a prejudice against him here that he shall sell and move west if he likes there. Says he can sell any day - Mason King is to be marryed tomorrow to Miss Harriet Sabin - They are progressing with the Babtist [sic] church hold metings [sic] in the basement - We have had some ripe peaches, [...] of from six different trees but are obliged to pick them when hard in order to have any atall, have but few apples - I do not pick or eat either apples or peaches with out thinking of you, cannot enjoy them half as well as if you could have some of them - Yesterday the weather was excessively warm now we have the front door shut the wind is so cool - Saw Martha at Susans said she was a going to write you and let you know she had not forgotten you -
And now. How do you get along have you got rested any? do your arms trouble you still? Have you the same girl still? Is Aron going to buy the place where you live Have you any furniture yet? Will the house be finished this fall[?] I cannot bear to think you must live all winter without a carpet it seems so cold I think the room you live in will be very comfortable for kitchen dining and sitting room if you had a good rag carpet on it or on a part of it[.] Our kitchen answers well all those purposes here & If we had it in a new country it would be very nice I expect I have thought of buying a few yards say 15 or 20 to send you that is if I can find it. What say you? If you were doing your work or were a going to do it this winter I should say you must have it[.] If I were god [sic] for any thing to work we would make one and send you. You did say you bought any carpet atall. If you have ent [sic] any to lay before your bed must certainly have a piece[.] My feet will be color all winter if I have to think you stop on the cold floor when you get in and out of bead [sic] Now you will think me childish perhaps to think and speak of everything but it spoils half my enjoyment to know those I love have not all the comforts I have. Or at least I should much prefer you should enjou [sic] our comforts with us -
Evening. Husband is in the kitchen reading and talking with the girls I can hear him laugh occasionaly [sic] has been very well to day I asked him what I should say to Carrie for him, he said tell her she is a dear good girl that he wants to see very much. he [sic] is sorry you have to be a grass widow - Hope A. will not get sick travelling in that unhelthy [sic] state, Cornelia is in her room reading a letter from Anne [?] Pickett. I must go & learn the news and tell you - : No news she says, all well of course I am at the end of my sheet so good night and pleasant dreams
