Emily Jessup (1824-1893) was born in Wilton, CT, the daughter of William Jessup and Nancy Odell. She graduated from Mount Holyoke in 1847 and taught there from 1847-1855. She served as Associate Principal 1855-1862 before moving to Oxford, OH, to join the faculty of the Western Female Seminary. Confined to a wheelchair due to health issues, she taught at Western until 1893. She is buried in the Oxford Cemetery.
