Marion Augusta Hawks (1820-1899) was the daughter of Mt. Holyoke Female Seminary President Rev. Roswell Hawks (1788-1870). She graduated from Mt. Holyoke in 1842 and taught in NC, RI, and OH 1842-1845. In 1845 she married Gen. C. P. Buckingham (1808-1888) of Mt. Vernon, Knox County, OH.
