Sylvia Desantis 1942

Sylvia DeSantis, a Monson native born in 1920, died Sunday October 25, 2009. She graduated from Monson High School, class of 1938, and from Mount Holyoke College, class of 1942, with a major in chemistry, foreign languages and art. Her parents were Ezio and Josephine DeSantis. Her professional career included being a chemical librarian at the Jackson Laboratory, E.I. du Pont de Nemours, in Wilmington, Delaware, and as head librarian at the research library of Naugatuck, (CT) Chemical, a division of U.S. Rubber Co. Later she served as a public librarian for many years. Miss DeSantis was a member of the Monson Arts Council, the Western Massachusetts Library Association and the First Church of Monson.
