Current Location of the
Hitchcock House

[Hitchcock House]

History

In 1912-1913, three houses were moved to make room for the construction of Skinner Hall and Student-Alumnae Hall. One of these was the Hitchcock House, former Watson property named for Amherst professor Edward Hitchcock. It served as a children's school from 1940 to 1952, and is now faculty housing. It is now located across Morgan Street on Minden Place, right behind the Byron Smith House.

This is the current location of Hitchcock House on Minden Place. I had no images of Hitchcock House in my collection, so I took this photo on September 7, 1998.
