[The Pepper Box]

History

Built in 1884, the Pepper Box was also called "Spoon Holder". It was a small pavilion on Prospect Hill, and the scene of undergraduate picnics and the winding of the maypole. It was torn down in 1917.

"PO Box 397 Hope you are all well Lucy is having good luck & it looks now as if she can graduate in June. She is about ten min walk from campus, & I have a room in next house & take meals with her. There are only 8 girls in that house. Her room mate is from Davenport N. Y. & is the daughter of a minister & a lovely girl."
