Stereoviews on Gray Mounts
History
These stereoviews were photographed in 1927 at the May Day pageant by S. A. Ralph.
The Images
All cards are available with both front and back scans, and comments about what is written on the front or back, either by the user or by the publisher, are included below.
- May Queen
- front Isn't she beautiful? This stereoview is mounted on gray cardboard; I cropped the cardboard backing on this scan. You can see the cardboard backing if you look at the scan of the reverse side.
- back "Frances Ackland - May Queen - Mt. Holyoke College May 14, 1927 S. A. Ralph" The dealer that I bought this from said that S. A. Ralph was a judge from Springfield whose daughter was an MHC student; I haven't been able to verify that.
- May Day Pageant
- front Gotta love those hats! This stereoview is mounted on gray cardboard; I cropped the cardboard backing on this scan. You can see the cardboard backing if you look at the scan of the reverse side.
- back "May Day Pageant - Mt. Holyoke College May 14, 1927 S. A. Ralph"
- Campus Stereoview
- front My guess is this is the path behind the Student Alumnae Hall (later named Mary Woolley Hall), because of the flowering fruit trees visible on the left. The area behind Student Alumnae Hall used to be an orchard. This stereoview is mounted on gray cardboard; I cropped the cardboard backing on this scan. You can see the cardboard backing if you look at the scan of the reverse side.
