History

Built in 1899, Talcott Arboretum was a gift of James Talcott of New York "for studying nature." A plant laboratory addition, the gift of the Misses Wright, was dedicated in 1980.

"As long as you have no tennis racket to bring in your hand I see no reason why you could not bring a fish. But if you are too fussy to wrap it up well and put it in the last thing and when you get on the train put it on the seat with you - why not? It's a scorcher here to-day - 93 in the shade. We have just been to meeting 32 there - Mr. N. led. It is really cloudy to-night & we hope it will rain. Beauty has just come in for his bed time lunch. Wouldn't you like to see him now? You haven't seen such a good cat down there have you? Well if you can't do any other way put one or more in the suit case. We must have some way to see what it is like. With love from all E. I. M."
