Fifty years ago in October of 1942, eight Mount Holyoke women started an a cappella group that is now as much a part of the MHC tradition as the Junior Show in which they first performed. Taking their act on the road, they performed at many New England colleges, and at Westover Air Force Base where they took the name Victory-Eights for the air force men sent from Westover to England during World War II.
Over the years, the V-8's have at times grown to as many as sixteen women, always maintaining their commitment to technical excellence and richly blended harmony. This album is a collection of recordings by past Victory-Eights as well as the 1992-1993 V-8's to commemorate 50 years of great a cappella music.
