History

We have a quaint room at the Bookshop Inn. Every thing is like a park here. We drove up Mt Holyoke this am. Also the Campus. We are starting to South Hampton to the Wiggins Tavern for lunch. I have on my suit. I also wore it to Miss Sergents in N. Y. I got my legs and feet wet in N. Y. C. & caught a bad throat. I needed a long coat. Hyde Park house was a disapointment [sic] after seeing the Vanderbuilt [sic] house. South Hadley is a pretty place. We are seeing places. Will see Deerfield one of these times I hope. P. S."

Mid School (W.R) 408 South Rockefeller Hall South Hadley, Mass. 11/15/42 Dear Jean, x marks the room on the 4th deck with a grand view of the Berkshires, which I share with a girl from Minnesota. We call this the "U.S.S. Rockefeller" - its like being on board ship. We hit the deck at 0615, and have to make our bunks and leave the cabin shipshape before going down to mess at 0720. Five classes, 3 study periods and two hours of drill or athletics a day keep us busy every moment until taps at 10pm. Its a great life! Today it was wonderful to sleep til 8, and after chapel can do as we please. Last Sat seems a year away. Don't forget your promise to write me. With love Nancy"
