Little Willy

[South Campus]

History

Little Willy was built in 1918 from bricks salvaged from Williston Hall, which burned down the year before. It served as the science building until Clapp Laboratory was built. It has been the Service Builtding since about 1924.

Little Willy is visible in the campus view above on the right side; it is the building with the tall smokestack. You can spot the building in other views of the South Campus on this page.

Since the postcard views I have of Little Willy aren't very descriptive, I took some photos on September 7, 1998. This photo shows the service building as it exists today; the other portion of the building was fashioned into the Ceruti Center for Foreign Languages.
