A Postcard Written around Aug 18, 1919
front "Mt. Moosilauke from Bixby farm Warren N.H."
back Postmarked Aug 18, 1919 5:30pm in Warren NH. Addressed to Dr. C. M. Clapp, M.B.L., Woods Hole, Mass. "G.Berry and I met - and have had experiences! We had to canvas this town for lodging, but got them, and now sit out a rain before going over Moosilauke. I've had an awful thought - I seem to remember Miss Agard said she was going to W.H. about Sept. 1 - I hope it doesn't conflict with Buckland. We went over a fine small mountain yesterday - and hope for the big one tomorrow. A.T."

A Postcard Written on Aug 28, 1919
front "348 - The Southern Peaks from Summit of Mt. Washington"
back Postmarked Aug 29, 1919 in a railway post office. Addressed to Dr. C. M. Clapp, M.B.L., Woods Hole, Mass. "Aug. 28 Thank you for all your letters. Eleanor wanted D.Eliz. and me to go even if you and she couldn't - but it seemed better to me to wait this trip until she could go. I know her better than D.Eliz. So I telegraphed the latter this a.m. that we'd not go now. Am staying at Shelburne where I have before, but miss Grace awfully though she left only a few hours ago. It's an anticlimax with a vengeance. - We went up Tues. over the series of Southern Peaks. Great day, though clouds & rain on top - as usual. Love - A.H.T."

A Postcard Written on Aug 18, 1922
front "115A Early Morning. Crummock Water (Abrahams' Series)"
back Postmarked Aug 19, 1922 in Liverpool, England. Addressed to Dr. C. M. Clapp in Woods Hole, Mass. "Aug. 18. Do you remember the Walmsley pictures of the Lake Region, with mountains & sheep? We've been staying with them (all of them) a week, and have seen where many of the pictures were taken. I'll tell you about it in the fall. Bath here and in Devon we haven't chased after the tourists! I wish we might be as successful in Scotland to which we go shortly. It rains every day - but we walk just the same. The English spend their lives getting wet and drying off! There must be fine profit in raincoats & umbrellas. Love - A.H.T-"

A Postcard Written on Sep 6, 1922
front "Choir looking East, Lincoln Cathedral"
back Postmarked Sep 7, 1922 in Ambleside, England. Addressed to Dr. C. M. Clapp in Woods Hole, Mass. "Lincoln, Sept. 6 We've had a fine series of catedrals at the end, and before that about ten days in Scotland - part in Glasgow and vicinity, part up toward the highlands where we climbed half of Britains highest mountain before it rained us down, and part in Edinburgh where some folks were mighty good to us and took us motoring to Melrose. We'll be sailing in two days now. Much love to you. A.H.T- We've been all around up in the triforium & clerestory and roof of Lincoln today, as well as in the usual places."

A Postcard Written around Jul 1925[?]
front "Orchard Scene, Cornwallis Valley, N.S."
back Postmarked in Nova Scotia. Addressed to Dr. C. M. Clapp in Woods Hole, Mass. "The orchards don't look like this now but they must in the season - I had a small article sent to you from Pinkham and Smith. Bromfield St. Boston. It's supposed to be a good kind, holding much more than waterman. I liked the point, but if you don't send it back and ask for one finer or coarser as you wish. The girl will know about it. - Love - Abby H. Turner / Met Miss Smith and Miss Cushing all right. Fine day."

A Postcard Written on Jun 30, 1926[?]
front "3084. K.K.Bergen. Kerdla." Inscriptions added to scene: "Causeway connecting lab. property and rest of island" "This is the laboratory" "Mountain as high at Mt. Tom and as far away Lab. boathouse" "Best road on is."
back Postmarked in Dovrebanen. Addressed to Miss Mary Clapp in Montague, Mass. "June 30 It is a beautiful day on the coast of Norway, with larks singing over the great field which makes a part of this island. The gulls scream too, much more than at Woods Hole. I may be sitting on one of their pet rocks! They drove me off of one high place, and later I found their eggshells so the babies may have been near. - The work is interesting and going well. The lab. is full when 10 are here! We shall be 8 this week. My love to you - Abby H Turner"

A Postcard Written on Jul 17, 1926[?]
front "Utsikt fra Hösbjör Turisthotel."
back Postmarked in Dovrebanen. Addressed to Dr. C. M. Clapp in Woods Hole, Mass. "July 17. This is a charming spot in east Norway - high above their biggest lake. I met Alice Blood & friend in Oslo, and we are having a car for three days! We've specialized this forenoon on farming - most interesting. The cows have white spines and legs, red sides - amusing pattern. You never saw such clover fields, just red with blossoms. Gorgeous weather. Much love - Abby"

A Postcard Written Sep 4, 1926
front "7358. A Hill Walk Malvern. - Judges' Ltd."
back Postmarked Sep 5. Addressed to Dr. C. M. Clapp in Woods Hole, Mass. "Sept. 4 The Malvern Hills are not desolate places, but now the "depression" in the weather has passed or they surely are charming. I'm associating with a retired vicar and wife and a Winchester master in the big boys' school [...] and exploring old British [...] on the hill-tops. You'd like [...]"

A Postcard Written Jul 29, 1930
front "Ostseebad Travemünde"
back Postmarked Jul 30, 1930. Addressed to Dr. C. M. Clapp in Woods Hole, Mass. "Travemünde, near Lübeck July 29. So glad to have your good letter in Copenhagen. I'm here to take a look at Kiel, near by , where Charlotte perhaps ought to work, and because I like it! Lübeck we saw two years ago, and I've been about more now - scene of Thomas Mann's "Buddenbrooks". (Nobel prize). The architecture is old brick, often glazed. This shore place is rich - I came for golf! These chairs the folks just live in, eat, sleep, take sun, shade & rain! make it all full of color! Much love - A.H.T. I hope Miss Mary stayed better!"

A Postcard Written Sep 8, 1930
front Untitled
back Postmarked Sep 9, 1930 in Worzburg, Germany. "Sept. 8 / Wasn't it a picture of Heidelberg (of rather vast size) which you had on your wall in Porter Hall? It's certainly picturesque and impressive, but to stay in, the place can't touch Freiburg and its Schwarzwald surroundings! That has been a lovely month. Much love - A.H.T."

A Postcard Written Sep 6
front "20-178 Napoli"
back Postmarked in Naples, Italy. Addressed to Dr. C. M. Clapp in Woods Hole, Mass. "Sept. 6 - We have had two days in Naples, one to go to Aquarium, Museum &c, and one for Vesuvius & Pompeii. The Aquarium had lovely sea anemones & some active small octopi. The lab. had a few shows and lemonade! Prof & Frau Nohrn are both delightful. Pompeii was most interesting, and Vesuvius was great. We went up to the top of the outside cone, then down in the crater and to the rim of the inside cone. Lots of steam, rocks very warm, some sulphur - very exciting. We start tomorrow for the boats. Love - Abby"

A Undated Postcard
front Untitled
back Postally unused, perhaps after 1928, since Abby was in Switzerland that year. "Dear Dr. Clapp, I'm glad to know where you are - but not glad you are where you are! Do you get to the sunny South as soon as you can! I'm so sorry Miss Mary is not well - it was a little too late for her to be around up here. If I had a car I'd ride up to see you on Saturday - but you might already be gone. This is a little flower card from Switzerland - the flowers there are unusual, you know. Charlotte, Frances Botsford and I all expect to be in Woods Hole next summer. We shall call often after supper on you and on Alma. We have little fir trees with real roots for our Christmas trees - very cunning. They came from a man we know up near Cummington. much love - Abby"
