A Letter Written on Jan 18, 1955

Tuesday

Dear Miss Must Wear Glasses,

I have been preparing to write this letter for days and finally got to it. Among the enclosures you will find your driver's license and your income tax return which you must sign and mail in the enclosed envelope [no longer with the letter] in order to get back the $10.30 those goops at the Fair took off. My fee for preparing the return will be $10.00.

I think you should write a letter to Met Ed in York something like the enclosed sample.

Regarding the tape recorder, I have been trying to find out more about them. The ads that I have found in magazines and papers don't tell you much. Mother brought home 4 catalogues from the office and I made an analysis of the machines described in them. I am sending you a copy. The Wilcox-Gay 4F10 looks like a good bet. What do you think?

If we had the opportunity to shop around New York we could probably learn a lot more about them. The Webster-Chicago that we were considering in Davega Store last summer isn't listed in any of the catalogues and there must be many other good ones too. There is also the chance that we can get one at York Radio & Refrigeration Parts Co., a wholesale only distributor where the Gazette can buy. We learned that they have the Pentron and probably have others.

You might pick the brains of your lab theatre people and see what they know about them. I am afraid you'll have the same trouble I've been having though. Every one you talk to has a different idea about them and no two agree.

Perhaps you'd better shelve the project for the next ten days until your exams are out of the way. I am sure they must take a lot of concentration and leave little room for other thoughtful pre-occupation. Lots of luck with them.

Love,
Dad
