Dear Mama,

Today has been a very beautiful day here at college. The only fly in the ointment was the vile sermon preached by Rabbi Newman. It was simply awful.

Thanks ever so much for the dollar. I was running kind of low. Last night was Spring Dance. They had a huge crowd. Sally & I who didn't go sat around & moped. But I washed my hair & did some Religion so that while busy I couldn't be sad. This morning they had a special breakfast for the people attending the dance. There were five waitresses of whom I was one & we are to be paid extra. They bought cute little aprons and I'm buying one. That will leave me a net profit of 15¢ for the breakfast. The European situation certainly is bad.

Tomorrow I will have the last Chem Lab. Thank goodness! Tomorrow I have invited a girl to dinner and Tues afternoon Sylvia & I are taking Miss Laird to tea.

I received an awfully cute special from Papa. His remarks about the Jews in Brooklyn were especially meaningful after the sermon this morning.

I can't believe this year is nearly over, it doesn't seem possible.

Sally and I want to have a big departing celebration sometime before the end, so I may not come home between exams. I'll write you later about my plans. I am going to get to work on Religion again now.

Love,
Bessie
