[Library]

History

Built in 1905 on the site of the 1870 library and named for A. Lyman Williston in 1917. Additions to the building were constructed in 1935 and 1968, and then most recently in the 1990s.

Decoration Day was the original name for Memorial Day. The holiday started when Northerners began decorating the graves of Union soldiers killed in the Civil War.
