The Mary Maria Dickinson Letters
History
These letters were written to Mary Maria Dickinson x1867, mostly by her mother, Maria Anna (Belding) Dickinson. Mary's cousin Anna Stoughton also entered the Seminary in the same year. If I've calculated the family tree correctly, Anna and Mary are second cousins. They share a set of great-grandparents (Nathaniel Gove Stevens and Lois Stow Stevens). Those great-grandparents had two daughters: Lois Stevens and Anna Stevens. Lois Stevens is Mary's grandmother, and Anna Stevens is Anna's grandmother. Mary has two siblings that her mother sometimes mentions in her letters: Charles Porter Dickinson (about 9 years old when these letters were written), and Anna Stevens Dickinson (about 17 years old when these letters were written).
