Abby Turner 1896 wrote to her mother, Emeline Cogswell Turner 1855, when she was traveling. Abby spent the summer in New York and New Hampshire.

My room has running water - and it is pleasant to have it hot, and there's a telephone too. There's a cloud in the sky and I hope it may rain in South Hadley. If I'd known it would cool off so much I'd have come by night - but never mind - I've survived. They gave me so much fish to eat in the dining car that I wished I could send some to you and Miss Dean. It was broiled bluefish - very good. I presume I'll hear from you in Buffalo by tomorrow. I had a delightful breakfast hour with Mrs. Ransom & Caroline. They sent love to you. So do I - Abby"
